Ultra-luxury cruise line Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced an ambitious renovation plan for its three Explorer-class ships. The goal is to increase onboard space and enhance exclusivity by reducing the number of suites and enlarging existing ones, as well as introducing new accommodation categories.
According to the company, the Seven Seas Explorer, Seven Seas Splendor, and Seven Seas Grandeur ships will reduce their number of suites from 373 to just 344, eliminating 29 cabins on each ship. This reduction will allow for a more spacious and luxurious experience for passengers, in line with the brand's philosophy of being the most luxurious fleet in the world.
An ambitious refresh for the Explorer class
The Veranda Suites, which currently measure 307 square feet (approximately 28,5 m²), will be expanded to between 415 and 464 square feet (between 38,5 and 43,1 m²). This will make them the largest entry suites in the ultra-luxury cruise industry , alongside the Deluxe Veranda Suites on the upcoming Prestige class. The new suites will include walk-in closets, double vanities, and more spacious balconies.
Regent Seven Seas Cruises President Wesley D'Silva emphasized that these improvements reflect the company's commitment to continuing to raise the bar for ultra-luxury travel. "By reducing the number of suites, expanding accommodations, and incorporating new categories, we are creating an even more spacious experience at sea ," he stated.
New suite categories: Horizon Penthouse and Distinctive Suites
Another major new feature is the addition of the Horizon Penthouse Suites, which will debut first on the upcoming Seven Seas Prestige and will later be integrated into the Explorer-class ships. These suites, ranging in size from 616 to 722 square feet (57 to 67 m²), will offer spacious private balconies, an elegant bedroom, a living room, and a full bathroom , combining interior luxury with generous outdoor spaces.
In addition, each ship will feature three new Distinctive Suites, ranging in size from 821 to 918 square feet (76 to 85 square meters). Named Explorer Suite, Splendor Suite, and Grandeur Suite, depending on the ship, they will include a separate bedroom with a king-size bed, a spacious living and dining area, a full bathroom and an additional powder room, as well as a large private balcony. Guests will enjoy premium amenities such as floral arrangements with orchids, cashmere blankets, in-suite caviar service, and a personal butler.
Schedule of planned beachings
The refurbishment program will begin with the Seven Seas Splendor, which will enter dry dock in November 2027. It will be followed by the Seven Seas Explorer in April 2028, and the Seven Seas Grandeur will complete the process in October of that same year. In this way, all three Explorer-class ships will be fully refurbished by the end of 2028.
These projects add to Regent's commitment to maintaining its leadership in the ultra-luxury segment, with an eye also on the new Prestige class, whose first ship, the Seven Seas Prestige , will enter service in December 2026.
