Norwegian Cruise Line unveiled its new offerings for the 2018 and 2019 seasons at the recent FITUR tourism fair. I've already mentioned some of them in this article , but today I'm going to focus a bit more on those that take you to the Caribbean.
Two ships, in addition to the Norwegian Bliss, specialize in Caribbean itineraries: the Gem and the Dawn … and now we'll look at their features, itineraries, and approximate prices.
The Norwegian Gem has a capacity for nearly 2.400 passengers , plus a crew of 1.000. In 2015, it underwent a complete refurbishment from bow to stern, featuring new décor and new venues such as the popular Sugarcane Mojito Bar and O'Sheehans Neighborhood Bar & Grill.
One of this ship's most spectacular itineraries is a tour of the Eastern Caribbean, departing from New York. This 10-day voyage takes you to the following destinations: Saint John (Antigua); Castries (Saint Lucia); Fort-de-France (Martinique); Saint Thomas (U.S. Virgin Islands); and then back to New York. All this for less than €950 per person in a double cabin.
But if you're looking to kick off the 2019 holiday season in an amazing way, then I recommend an eight-day cruise on the Gem to the Bahamas and Florida from New York. Departures begin December 13, 2019. This popular family itinerary includes a one-night, two-day stay in Orlando and Port Canaveral, plus a day on Norwegian's private island of Great Stirrup Cay and a visit to Nassau, Bahamas. In my opinion, this cruise has an added bonus: the excursion to historical sites, allowing you to learn about Nassau's African American heritage. It combines beautiful beaches with history.
