On February 18, in the Murcian city of Cartagena, the 2016 Excellence Awards ceremony took place, some awards organized by the company CruisesNews Media Group, and this year they have completed their IX edition.
In the auditorium of the El Batel conference center The representatives of the main cruise companies gathered, as well as port institutions, specialized press, auxiliary industry, travel agencies, tour operators, excursion companies, and other services associated with the cruise tourism industry.

- Best Brand Recognition among Travel Agencies: Costa Cruises.
- Best brand image among consumers: MSC Cruises.
- Best River Tourism Company: CroiseEurope.
- Best Port / Destination in the Mediterranean: Malta.
- Best Shipping Company for First Cruise: MSC Cruises.
They also delivered 3 special recognitions for Celestyal Cruises, as Best Revelation Shipping Company, to Viajes El Corte Inglés, as Best Travel Agency in the Region of Murcia, and mention for ASEAM, the Association of Businessmen of Maritime Activities of Cartagena.
These prizes are awarded following a survey, or rather macro-survey, which is made between users and professionals of cruise ships. In 2015, more than 5.000 people surveyed were registered.
This edition featured the sponsorship of the Cartagena Port Authority, the Cartagena City Council, BC Agency, Bags & Go, Spanish golf Cruises, ASEAM, Autocares Vidal, Cruises Atlantic Islands and Medcruise.
The city in which the 2017 gala will be held is not yet known.
