Seville opens the expansion of its cruise terminal

In 2015, more than 17.600 cruise passengers arrived at the port of Seville, a figure that is expected to exceed 20.000 in 2016. as 31 cruises are scheduled to arrive between March and November.

The project for the new terminal, the second phase of which has been inaugurated, has been designed by the architecture studios Hombre de Piedra and Buró4 and executed by the UTE Eiffage Infraestructuras y Construcciones y Contratas Cabello. This stage has had a budget of 1,2 million euros, 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (Feder).

The terminal It will premiere on March 22 when Braemar arrives in Seville, and its crew and travelers can enjoy Holy Week.

The authorities gathered at the event confirmed that with the construction of the new terminal they intend to seek "new cruise segments and promote nautical and river tourism in the Port of Seville and its surroundings." Likewise, the mayor of the city, the socialist Juan Espadas, emphasized that the location of the new terminal, in the heart of the city, will make it possible to promote and generate wealth in the city.

On the other hand, the president of the Provincial Council recalled the recent agreement signed at the FITUR fair called Guadalquivir Territory between the Cajasol banking entity, the Sevillana Confederation of Entrepreneurs, the Junta de Andalucía and the institution, to promote the river and its banks and enhance the wealth of the towns of the province.
