Maasdam, Holland America Line's most classic and artistic ship

The Maasdam ship, named after the Maas River in the Netherlands, is one of the classics of the Holland America Line, it is a twin of the Statendam, Ryndam and Veendam and although it was inaugurated in 1993, it has been renovated just a decade ago.

A curiosity, this is the fifth ship to bear this name in the company's 140-year history.

This boat offers a very familiar atmosphere thanks to its medium size and its common areas. You have capacity for 1.258 passengers and passengers, and 580 people make up the crew. Most of its cabins are exterior with window, and each suite (150) has its private terrace.

This ship makes large cruises, through the Atlantic and the American coasts, until reaching Australia and New Zealand with an excellent proposal in quality and service.

The decoration of the Maasdam pays homage to the time of the Dutch East and West Companies from the XNUMXth to the XNUMXth century. In the central part of the ship, the sculpture Totem, by the artist Luciano Vistosi, stands out, with almost 2.000 pieces of Murano glass that remains on display in the three-story high atrium.

Another striking piece of art at the Maasdam are two abstract murals for the Rotterdam dining room, and a unique collection of late Edo period Japanese iron kettles and charcoal brazier.

Gastronomy is another of the highlights of this ship, which includes continental cuisine and vegetarian and low-carbohydrate alternatives. One of the most acclaimed restaurants is the Pinnacle Grill, an intimate setting for which reservations are required with sophisticated menus. It offers the highest quality Sterling Silver beef, suggestive seafood dishes and a variety of select wines rated Excellent by Wine Spectator.
