First day of cruise: things to do and useful tips

You are already on board that magnificent ship and ready or ready for your first day of cruise. As well, I'm going to give you some hints so you don't look like a rookie on your first day. And I start with what you should have done yesterday, and it is that I recommend that you arrive at port one day before the ship's departure, that you take the connection with time to get to the port. This may be a hobby of mine, but it would be a shame if for an unforeseen or something absurd you did not get to the ship on time, and it does not wait for anyone.

And once we are inside and we have done the check-in we go with the tips. The first thing for me is meet the person in charge of my cabin area, he or she will be your most direct link to find out if everything is in order or ask for anything you need, such as another pillow.

Information that I will find in my cabin

In your cabin, when you arrive, you will have seen that you have a lot of information about the ship and about the cruise itself, things like offers, excursions, daily program of activities on the boat, restaurants, shows and other details. Take a good look at it, and decide. Maybe you want to extend an excursion or book now at a restaurant, now is the time to do it, because then there may be no reserves left.

The dilemma about whether to do excursions on your own or to book them before or during the journey is something that everyone decides, but if it helps you here you can consult an article about the topic.

Unpack the first day

You may get to your cabin and your luggage is not there yet, don't worry. In a couple of hours you will have it at the door. I advise you that once your bags have arrived hang up all the clothes and forget to open them again. And a recommendation, which I should also have made you before, carry a folding bag inside the suitcase for all the gifts and tidbits that are unavoidable to buy along the journey and on the stopovers.

Am I or am I not going to the safety meeting?

fullfilment of security requirements

This question should not even be asked, you have to go yes or yes. An emergency drill (safety drill) must be carried out on all boats and all passengers must be in it. And I also recommend that you do it very carefully. To know where you have to go to the drill or in an emergency you should look inside the cabin door.

To go to do the drill, an alarm will sound, an intermittent beep, 1 long and 7 short, This is the time for you to put on your life preserver (which will be in the closet) and go without running to the meeting point. There will be a demonstration of how to use the life preserver. Be careful, the elevators do not work once the alarm for the drill sounds! After the drill, you can enjoy 100% of your cruise.

Inspect the boat

The first day is also the ideal time to go on a boat tour. Although many people do not know it, in reality this "excursion" may be scheduled and it is the workers themselves who teach you, and sometimes they do raffles among the people who visit the facilities on the first day, so who knows… you might get a free spa session.

If you travel with children they will ask you to do a thorough inspection of everything, Go to the facilities dedicated to them, there may even be the monitors, it is the ideal time to meet them.

Ah! Do not forget to check your meal schedule and the table that you have been assigned ... so that later you do not have doubts. And now yes, happy journey!
