The company MSC Cruises has made the decision to cancel all the stopovers of its planned ships in Tunisia for the 2015/2016 winter season, so the ship's winter schedule MSC Preziosa will be modified from November 15 to April 23, 2016.

The city chosen as a substitute for the Tunis scale is Valletta, capital of Malta.

This decision to cancel the stopover in Tunis also affects the itineraries of the MSC Magnifica and MSC Poesía as regards the MSC Grand Voyages from Venice to Santos, in Brazil and Buenos Aires in Argentina respectively, which will take place in November and December of this year. Both ships will make a one-day stopover in the port of Alicante.

The shipping company has explained that this cancellation of the stopovers has to do with the recent declaration of a state of emergency for 30 days made public by the Tunisian authorities, which adopted this decision as a result of the attack perpetrated on June 26 at the Riu Imperial Marhaba hotel in Soussa, which caused 38 fatalities. For its part, the Danish government has recommended to its citizens in the country that they leave the country due to the high risk of another jihadist attack, a day after the United Kingdom and Ireland issued a similar warning.

As for other shipping companies that have made a decision similar to that of MSC Cruises, it is Pullmantur that one of the first to suspend its stay in the African country, since March its ships have not made a stopover in Tunisia, which have been replaced by a stopover in Italy, mainly in the port of Palermo, although the ships Dolce Vita and Brisas del Mediterráneo They have made a stopover in the port of Naples and Olbia, in Sardinia, since last April 25.
