Salary of crew and contracted personnel on board (roughly)

Today I will talk about the people who work on the cruise ships, that is, their crew and more specifically about the approximate salaries they charge. This is a general article, obviously there is some difference between working in one company or another, but If you are thinking of enrolling on board a cruise, he can guide you on the salary.

There is a basic division between cruise ship personnel, those who receive tips and those who do not. Remember that tips are mandatory in most shipping companies and are not included in the ticket price. You can see more information on this topic if you click this link.

The crew that receives a tip is the one that is in direct contact with the cruise passengers, I'm talking about waiters, bartenders, assistants ... they have a rather low salary and a large part of their income comes from tips. The approximate income from tips is between 1.500 to 3.000 euros. Those who work in contact with travelers must prove an excellent level of English, work experience and appropriate training.

Those who lack the appropriate experience or do not have good command of English are often hired as part of the team that does not receive tips. They are, in turn, those who tend to the crew or do not have direct contact with the passengers, such as crew waiters, service personnel, etc. Salaries are fixed without tips and their income is usually around 2.000 euros per month.

Then there are the people who are the training crew, captain, second in command, mechanics, engineers… who are responsible for driving the ship and arriving safely at each destination. These are full-time salaried career personnel and do not work on the same hiring basis as the rest of the cruise ship workers.

Something similar happens with the artists who are part of the shows, who depend on the production of the show, and not on the shipping company.
